UCC Early Learning Academy Partners with Milwaukee Public Library
In an effort to promote early literacy with our youngest students, the UCC Early Learning Academy
(ELA) is currently working the Milwaukee Public Library and two of their special programs for early education centers.
- Books2Go: The Books2Go library card is a special program offered only by Milwaukee Public Library to child care centers in Milwaukee to ensure early childhood teachers have access to all of the materials that the Milwaukee Public Library has to offer, such as books, music, puppets, teacher lesson planning books, and more. With the card, teachers use library items to enhance and supplement resources they already have. The teachers at UCC ELA are actively using this special library card to increase the amount of high-quality reading material students have access to on a daily basis.
- Book Delivery Program: Every four weeks the Education and Outreach Department of the Milwaukee Public Library brings a high quality age appropriate selection of books checked out to the center for use in the classrooms.
These two programs allow our students to access and learn from the library’s latest offerings. Teachers love the program as it builds upon the existing selection at the school, providing them with even more resources.
The programs are a big hit with the teachers and the children. The children even ask to hear the books over and over again. We are thankful for the amazing resources available through the Milwaukee Public Library.
